Essay: Common Human Emotions

For many humans, the association to the monster should follow common human emotions of longing and association that arise from our socializing process.

Humans have been designed to seek associations through socializing, therefore Frankenstein’s search for a place to fit in and his association with his failure to his physical looks make him human. Moreover, the ability of this machine to recognise that the presence of a companion share and to communicate with adds a human side to him. The machine’s ability to get angry and frustrated by his creator’s refusal and its eventual revenge by killing Elizabeth victor’s bride shows human emotional tendencies. Mary Shelley managed to humanize Frankenstein, since the entire novel shows the machine’s desire for human companion and affection and the acceptance of the society which rejects him.
