Essay: Pollutants Emitted by Cars

Sample Essay

One of the pollutants that are emitted by cars that is never taken into consideration is Diurnal[1]. This happens when the gasoline in the car heats up and evaporates. Evaporation can be caused by rising temperatures on very hot days, a hot running engine and exhaust system, and when the car is still hot after being turned off.

Despite the increased awareness in environmental conservation, greenhouse gases from vehicles continue. As [2]reported, in the years 1990-2005, nitrogen oxides emitted reduced by 39%, volatile organic compounds by 60%. Greenhouse gases however, increased by 33% to 135 Mt of carbon dioxide over the same period, this was associated with the technological improvements.
