Throughout the world, the word abortion is considered to be a major taboo. What we need to realize is that it is the use of anything that makes it good or bad. Abortion essentially is not a concept that can only be considered as an unacceptable practice. It is the misuse of this practice that makes it so much unlikeable. In our world, unfortunately, with the depleting moral values, abortion is becoming more and more common. This, however, does not imply that the practice itself is a bad one. For couples going through difficulties of different sorts, abortion can be a blessing in disguise.
Abortion is actually the process in which a female bearing a child abandons it and gets rid of it while it is unborn. In simpler words, it is the process of ending a pregnancy. This is achieved by undergoing a surgery in which the female gets rid of the fetus or embryo in the uterus. There are four different ways of going through an abortion. The first kind can be achieved by avoiding surgery and taking pills but this can only work up to initial 8 weeks of pregnancy. These pills help in ending the pregnancy and then ejecting the dead tissue after about 72 hours. Vacuum Aspiration is another process that helps to empty the uterus. A third option can be adopted when the pregnancy reaches a stage where it can be detected by an ultrasound. It employs a syringe used to empty the uterus. A fourth option is the Dilate and Evacuate option. It can be performed in between the 13th to 24th week of pregnancy. In this procedure, the uterus’s opening is made to expand first, it is then numbed and the fetus is sucked out from it.
