Anna Julia Cooper and Fannie Lou Hamer are also the activists who provide the source of inspiration to the African American women. Cooper also raised voice against the sexual threats that the African American women had to face not only during the period of servitude but also after it.

The petty condition under which the black women were encircled in America made them prone to the sexual threats by the white men. The relationship between resistance and sexuality therefore is of utmost importance.

The sad fact was that the African American women were considered as easy victims for the white men who exploited them under the name of the vulgarity possessed by the black women. The black women resisted the sexual insinuations by the white men. The expense of resistance against sexuality was the life of celibacy as the women denied sex at all.
