Since there is no definite, exact definition of this concept, many marketing experts consider it as a private organization’s way of institutionalizing and integrating the environmental, social, and economic functions and significance of its activities and operations (Rosam and Peddle 2004, pp. 3).

It cuts across organizational boundaries and covers varied corporate processes and functions, including the area of marketing and promotion. It also crosses geographies and territories, as the corporate responsibility is now given more importance in  many countries all over the world, particularly Saudi Arabia (Zaidan and Jensen 2008).
