For successful intervention in such a case, the psychologist may use competent and sensitive social partners on adolescents with egocentrism (Ylvisaker, Hibbard & Feeney, 2008).

Such partners do not react primitively or in manners that suggest egocentric adolescents are behaving awkwardly. Through social competent partners, egocentric adolescents can learn how to identify and recognize the needs and feelings of others and not necessarily their own.
