The effects among Irish residing on the North part of America were equally destabilizing. The continued reference to the manifest destiny saw the Americans on the verge of acquiring the modern day Canada (Paterson et al, p. 34). Benjamin Franklin did not succeed in convincing the Britons to leave the North.

In the hope that French Canadians would assist them to stage a rebellion against the Britons, the Americans used all means at disposal to ensure that they secured the land (Carlisle, p.154). However, the Americans were only able to annex the land in Oregon. The Irish populace changed their culture in order to get accommodated in the mainstream American states. People lost land, property rights and cultural identity.
