In other instances, it can come out through experiencing a similar ordeal or witnessing it happen to someone else. Developing another self after a traumatizing event can have both positive and negative effects. On the positive, it can help the individual to forget the past and make tremendous accomplishments in the future (Nkara, 3). However, it also prevents the individual from confronting his fears. The individual therefore lives with a sense of insecurity, always having anxieties of looming danger.
