People, who see the world in a functional perspective, see everything working in a social order. They see society as a mixture of various organizations, companies, communities and individuals working together to achieve an acceptable level of balance.

They believe that there are requirements that a society must met in order to ensure its survival with various ideas and theories exist in society because they all serve a purpose. Essentially they believe that society is life the parts of a body with each part required to function optimally to ensure its survival (Oxford University Press, 1994). According to this perspective the structure of societies are in continuous state of flux due the needs and behaviors of its citizens. This change continues to occur until the system meets the needs of society.
