Criminologists are tasked with studying how crimes are committed including white collar one. It is also important for them to know how such cases fare within the judicial systems. Most of these suspects have avoided imprisonments. The federal bureau of investigation gave shocking reports on how these suspects emerge free after prosecutions. White-collar referrals to F.B.I were 28-40% between 1986 and 2002 of all cases and 32.9% in 2001 only (U.S. Department of Justice, FBI, 2002, p. 42). However, Less than 1% of federal inmates were white-collar inmates. Thus, criminologists need to do more on prosecutorial abilities.

Conclusion

Serious studies on white-collar crimes will boos the general lifestyles in man circles of life. It is important that any investment arrangements are investigated firs before the public is allowed to participate in such business ventures. The importance of scrutinizing the management teams of various businesses is also necessitated by the increasing incidents of white-collar crimes (Newman, et al. 2003, p. 112). Criminologists therefore need to formalize robust detective procedures, which particularly look at the history of individual who establish various suspected businesses.

Criminologist need to advocate for stronger legal stands on suspects, this cannot be over emphasized, as the figures of convicted inmates are too low compared to the reported incidences. This should not be the case as the fraudulent crimes are much higher indicating that many suspects are escaping free.
