The same hype which once took over the United States in August 2014 has emerged. There are rumors of nationwide “Day of Rage” protests which turned out to be absolutely nothing.

The August 2014 protest was formed due to the shooting of Michael Brown, who was an unarmed black teenager, by a white police officer, in Ferguson, Missouri, encouraged protests that agitated the vicinity for weeks.

July 15, 2016, due to the controversial police shooting incident which took place, there have been rumors coming to surface that the group Anonymous was in partnership with the Black Lives Matter movement for the “Day of Rage” event.  There was no evidence found of anyone actually organizing or endorsing protest actions for the protest, and none of the protests ever took place on the scheduled dates.

The shooting death of two black men – Aston Sterling in Baton Rouge and Philander Castile in a suburb of St. Paul, Minnesota by white police officers was the main reason this so-called protest was announced. There were further rumors that the group Anonymous had announced protest to be practiced in 36 cities across the United States on 15 July 2016.

Surprisingly, this event was the same as the false “Day of Rage” protest in August 2014. The only difference which was found was that the dates on which the protest would take place were different.

Anonymous tweeted, “There is no such thing as an “Anonymous day of rage”. TheAnonMessage isn’t a credible source; he has been spreading false information before.

Later tweeting, “The next protest we have planned is the worldwide Million Mask March on November 5^th. Don’t just be angry at the system, think of solutions.”

What’s next?

The authorities are prepared for any such protest, just in case, it happens. The U.S Army, U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force issued warnings that “protests and public gatherings are scheduled throughout the United States and Canada.” However, nothing as such happened and no protest took place at all.
